An email letter shows Not delivered or Trying again
Open Manage Letters, tab Email, and click the letter. Email Details opens, and the reason stands near the top under Delivery problem.
| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Trying again | The last try failed. FuturePostman tries again by itself, up to 5 times, with pauses that grow from a few minutes to a day. A note under the date names the next try. The date you chose stays as it is. | Nothing. If you know that an address is wrong, correct it with Edit. |
| Failed | A try has just failed and the next one is not planned yet. | Wait a moment and reload the page. |
| Not delivered | The letter is not tried again by itself. You also got an email with the subject Your letter could not be delivered. | Read the reason, then use Edit or Try again. |
| Waiting to be sent | The delivery time has passed and the letter has not gone out. Sending is delayed on our side, or the account is blocked. No try is used up. | Wait. If nothing changes, contact support. |
| Delivery problem says | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The address refused the email. | The notice was handed over, and the mail server of every recipient sent it back. | Get the right address, correct it with Edit and save. |
| The mail server did not accept an address. | An address can never work, for example because its domain does not exist. | Correct it with Edit and save. |
| This letter has no usable email address. | No address has the form of an email address. | Add one with Edit and save. |
| We tried several times and the letter could not be sent. | All automatic tries are used up. The cause was not the address. | Choose Try again. If it fails once more, contact support. |
| That some of the recipients got the letter | Recipients who were reached can open the letter. Only the others are tried again. | Wait, or correct the address that is still missing. |
- Try again
- In the menu of a failed letter and in Email Details. The letter goes back in the queue and is sent within a few minutes. It is not counted against your month again, and nobody gets it twice.
- Edit
- A failed letter can be corrected on every plan. Change the addresses or the time and press Save changes. The letter is then sent again. When some recipients were already reached, the subject and the text can no longer be changed.
- Delete
- On every plan. A failed letter that reached nobody gives its place in the monthly count back when you wrote it in the current month. Its files are deleted with it.
The details: correct a failed letter and edit, reschedule or delete.
The recipient did not get the email
Check the status
In Manage Letters, Scheduled means the day has not come yet. Pending or Sending means it is going out now. Sent means the mail service accepted the email for every recipient. Viewed means a recipient has opened the letter. For the other statuses, see the entry above.
Tell the recipient what to look for
The email is a notice from the service address of FuturePostman, not from your own address. Its subject is
You have received a message from the past. Ask the recipient to search for that subject and to look in the spam or junk folder.Check the address
Click the letter. Email Details lists To, Cc and Bcc. A letter that is sent cannot be edited. If the address has a mistake, write a new letter to the right one.
Send the notice again
If the address is right, find the recipient under Notices in Email Details, press Send the notice again and confirm with Send notice. The recipient gets a new link and a new access code. The earlier ones keep working. This works 3 times within 24 hours for each letter, and only while the link is open. See Send the notice again.
Look at the files
If the letter has attachments, open the Files page. A file shows Active while nobody has opened it, then Viewed or Downloaded.

Email address
Access code
| What the recipient sees | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| That did not match. | The email address or the access code does not belong to this link. | Enter the address the letter was sent to, not one it was forwarded to, and the code from the same email. Every recipient has a link and a code of their own. |
| Too many attempts. | 3 wrong tries were made with this email address. Only wrong tries count. From one network address, 30 wrong tries on the letter with any email address also lock it, for 15 minutes. | Wait until the time in the message is over, then try again with the right address and code. |
| Link expired, This letter can no longer be opened | The time chosen under Link stays open for has run out. It counts from the delivery. | Only the sender can help: give the link more time, see below. |
| Letter removed, The sender removed this letter | The sender has deleted the letter. | It cannot be brought back. Ask the sender to write again. |
| Unknown link, This link does not work | The link is incomplete, often because the mail program broke it in two. Or the letter no longer exists, for example because the sender deleted the account. | Open the link straight from the email, or copy the whole link into the browser. |
| Please wait, Too many tries | The link was loaded more than 60 times within 5 minutes from one network address. | Wait 5 minutes and open it again. |
| Not fetched yet, We could not fetch the letter | A fault on our side. The letter is safe. | Press Try again. |
| For your safety the letter closed itself after a while. | An opened letter closes by itself after 30 minutes without activity. | Enter the address and the code again. Nothing is used up. |
| Limit reached next to a file, or Downloads used up | The recipient has downloaded the file as often as the sender allowed. | The letter can still be read, and a file with a View button can still be viewed. The sender can raise the limit, see below. |
| View only next to a file | The sender allowed viewing on the page, not downloading. | Press View. |
What you can do as the sender:
- Give the link more time
- Click the letter in Manage Letters, press Extend link, choose a period under Extend by and press Extend. For a letter with files, Extend Expiration on the Files page does the same. The link and every file of the letter are extended together, and the same link and code work again. A link never stays open longer than 1 year from today.
- Do it in time
- An expired link and its files are kept for at least 30 days and are then removed for good. After that the link cannot be extended any more, and the letter has to be written again.
- Raise the download limit
- On the Files page open the menu of the file and choose Details. Pick a number or No limit under Download limit and press Save. A new letter starts with 3 downloads for each file and each recipient.
A page that says a letter cannot be opened has a link to the contact page and a line Reference with a short code that starts with FP-. The opened letter has both at its foot. The code opens nothing, so it is safe to pass on, and support can find the letter by it. More: if it does not open and file sharing settings.
A file cannot be attached
The composer says which limit stands in the way, and a file that cannot be sent is marked in red with the reason. What your plan allows:
| Feature | Free | Time Master Pro | Postmaster |
|---|---|---|---|
| Largest file | 1 MB | 25 MB | 100 MB |
| Files per letter | 3 | 10 | 10 |
| Files per month | 3 | 10 | 50 |
| File storage | 10 MB | 500 MB | 5 GB |
| The composer says | What to do |
|---|---|
| File attachments are not included in your plan | Send the letter without files, or change your plan. |
| Your plan allows a number of files per letter | Remove a file, put several files into one ZIP file, or write a second letter. |
| You have used all files your plan allows this month | Files are counted from the first day of the month. Wait for the next month, or change your plan. |
| Not enough room left in your file storage | Delete files you no longer need on the Files page. That ends the access of their recipients at once. Expired files are removed by themselves 30 days after they expire. |
| Larger than your plan allows per file | Remove the file, then attach a smaller version. No plan takes a file above 100 MB. |
| The file is not a file type we can send | Programs and scripts are refused. See the file types that are accepted. |
| Remove the files marked in red before sending | A refused file is never left out silently. Remove it yourself, then send. |
| That files could not be uploaded | Files are uploaded when you send. The letter was not saved. Fix the cause and send again. Files that are already uploaded are not uploaded twice. |
| Recording is not included in your plan | A Voice or Video recording is a file too. It needs a plan with recording and room for one more file. |
How attaching works: attachments and recordings.
The date is too far ahead
Every plan schedules a certain time ahead. When the date is beyond that, the composer says how far your plan schedules and the letter is not saved.
| Feature | Free | Time Master Pro | Postmaster |
|---|---|---|---|
| Schedule ahead | 1 year | 100 years | 100 years |
- Choose an earlier date, or change your plan and schedule the letter then.
- A paper letter waits at most 5 years, on every plan, and never longer than your plan schedules.
- That time has already passed. Pick a later one. means the time you chose is in the past. This also happens when the review dialog stays open for a while.
- A letter that is already scheduled keeps its date when you move to a smaller plan.
A scheduled letter cannot be changed
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Changing a scheduled letter is not included in your plan | Changing an email letter that still waits for its date is part of some plans only. Plans that include it: Postmaster. A failed letter can be corrected on every plan. | Press See the plans, or delete the letter and write it again. |
| No Edit in the menu of an email letter | The letter is Sent or Viewed, or it is being sent at this moment. | A delivered letter cannot be changed. You can still delete it. |
| This letter is being sent right now and can no longer be changed or deleted. | The letter is going out at this moment. | Wait until its status changes. |
| The files of an email letter cannot be changed | Files are sealed when the letter is written. | To send other files, write a new letter. |
| No Edit Letter for a paper letter | A paper letter can be changed on every plan until 1 hour before it is posted. One sent with Now cannot be changed at all. | Until it reaches the print centre you can delete it and get the credits back. |
| The country or the delivery option of a paper letter is locked | The postage was paid for them. | Delete the letter, which gives the credits back, and write it again. |
The full rules: edit, reschedule or delete an email letter and change or delete a paper letter.
The monthly letter limit is reached
The composer says that you have used all letters for this month, and an email letter cannot be sent. A letter is counted when you schedule it, not when it is delivered. A letter with several recipients counts once.
| Feature | Free | Time Master Pro | Postmaster |
|---|---|---|---|
| Email letters per month | 5 | 5,000 | 15,000 |
- The count starts again on the first day of each month. The Subscription page shows it under Email letters this month, with the date as Next reset.
- Press See plans to move to a plan with more letters.
- Delete a letter you wrote this month that has not been delivered to anyone. It gives its place back.
- Send a paper letter instead. Paper letters are paid with credits and are not counted.
- Letters that are already scheduled are delivered, whatever the count says.

A paper letter is stopped at inspection or failed
When a paper letter runs into a problem, you get an email with the subject A problem with your paper letter. In Manage Letters, tab Paper letter, click the letter. Its page shows where it stopped, lists the reasons under What was wrong when the print centre gave any, and says what to do.

| Status | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Failed | The letter never reached the print centre, and nothing was printed. A passing fault was already tried 3 more times, 15 minutes apart. | Press Send now on the page of the letter or in its menu in the list. No extra credits are charged. Or delete the letter to get the credits back. |
| Stopped at inspection | The print centre could not accept the letter as it is, often because of the address. | A stopped letter cannot be edited. Delete it to get the credits back, and send a corrected one. |
| Could not be printed | The print centre has the letter and could not process it. Send now is not offered. | Delete it to get the credits back and send it again. If it happens a second time, contact support. |
| Returned | The letter was posted, and the postal service could not deliver it. The address may be wrong, or the recipient has moved. | Credits for a posted letter are not returned. Send a new letter to the right address. Remove from list takes the old one off your list. |
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| This letter is being handed to the print centre right now. Try again in a few minutes. | The letter cannot be deleted during the hand-over. |
| The print centre cannot be reached right now. Try again in a moment. | Nothing is deleted on a guess. Try again a little later. |
| This letter has already been posted. It can no longer be deleted or refunded. | A posted letter cannot be called back. |
| The print centre could not cancel this letter. Contact support if you need help. | The letter is too far along to be stopped from the app. Contact support with the Letter number from its page. |
- A posted letter has neither Delete nor Remove from list while it is still followed: a tracked letter until it is delivered, a standard letter for 45 days after posting. After that Remove from list appears.
- A standard letter stays at Posted and never shows Delivered. Only tracked delivery confirms the arrival.

A paper letter shows no price
The price in credits comes from the print centre, for the country and the delivery option you chose. A price is never guessed, so nothing is charged without one.
| The composer says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Choose the country to see the price | Choose the Country in the address. |
| Checking the price... | The price is being asked for. Wait a moment. |
| The price could not be fetched right now | The letter cannot be sent without a price. Check the country, wait a moment and try again. Your text is kept as a draft in this browser. If the price stays away for a country, contact support and name the country. |
| That the price has changed, in the review dialog | Nothing was charged. Read the new price and confirm again, or go back. |
| Not available for this country under Tracked | Choose Standard. |
Other things stop a paper letter in the composer. Finish your profile to send paper letters: add your name and your own postal address in Settings. A button that says Buy credits: your balance is lower than the price. A text that is too long: a paper letter holds up to 10,000 characters and at most 6 pages.

Credits and payment
Credits are missing after a purchase
After you pay, Stripe sends you back to FuturePostman and a notice says how many credits were added. Every purchase is on the Credits tab of Manage Letters, in the Credit ledger, as an entry of the kind Purchase. Its invoice is on the Billing page.
| What you see | What it means and what to do |
|---|---|
| No notice, because you closed the window too early | The credits are still added when Stripe reports the payment. Open the Credits tab again a little later. |
| The credits are not on your account yet | The payment was not confirmed yet when you came back, which happens with payment methods that take time. The credits are added as soon as it is confirmed. Contact support only if they do not appear. |
| Purchase Cancelled | You left the checkout, and nothing was charged. |
| The purchase could not be started | Nothing was charged. Try again. |
| A balance that is lower than you expect | Credits belong to the account that bought them. Check that you are signed in to the same account. |
| No credits from your plan | They are added when a billing period is paid, the first one and each renewal, as an entry of the kind Bonus. Changing plan in the middle of a period adds none. |
| No Refund entry after you deleted a paper letter | A deleted paper letter gives its credits back only when it was not printed yet. |
If the money has left your account and there is still no Purchase entry, contact support with the day and the amount. More: buying credits.
A payment failed and the plan changed
What happens
When a payment for your plan fails, you get an email with the subject
Payment issue with your FuturePostman subscription, and the Billing page shows Payment needed. While Stripe tries the payment again, the status is Past Due and you keep your plan. If the payment is not made, the subscription ends or becomes Unpaid, and your account goes back to the limits of Free. What keeps working
Letters you have already scheduled are still delivered. Credits for paper letters stay on your account. An email layout that Free does not include is replaced by the standard one when the letter goes out.
What to do
On the Billing page press Pay or change card. The billing portal of Stripe opens, where you pay the open invoice or replace the card. Your plan carries on as soon as the payment goes through. The Billing page stays open to you after the plan was taken away. If you would rather stop, press Cancel Subscription and confirm with Cancel now: the subscription ends at once, the open invoice is no longer collected, and your account is on Free right away.
More: when a payment fails and invoices and payment.
