An account is all you need for email letters. For paper letters your profile also needs your first and last name and your own postal address. Everything on this page is under Settings: in the sidebar it is in the group Account, and on the public pages it is in the account menu, the round button at the top right.
Sign up and sign in
- Create an account on the sign-up page. Start writing on the home page leads to sign-in and then straight to the composer.
- Sign in on the sign-in page. Afterwards you land on the dashboard, or on the page you were on your way to.
- To sign out, press Sign out at the top right. On a phone it is under More in the bar at the bottom.
- The titles, field names and buttons of both forms follow the language you chose. Later steps and error messages of these forms can appear in English.
Your name
Open the profile
Go to Settings. The tab Profile is open, with the section Profile Information at the top.
Type your name
Fill in First Name and Last Name.
Save
Press Save Changes. The name and the address below it are saved together.
Where your name is used:
- An email letter names you as the sender, in the notice email and on the page where the recipient reads the letter. Without a name the notice says it comes from FuturePostman. With Send anonymously no name is shown.
- A paper letter prints your name under the sign-off. A paper letter cannot be sent until both first and last name are filled in.
- A scheduled letter uses the name your profile has on the day it goes out. If you change your name, letters that are still waiting follow.
Your postal address
Under Your postal address for paper letters in the same section, fill in Address Line 1, Postal Code, City and Country. These four are marked with a star. Address Line 2 and State / Province are optional. Save with Save Changes.
- The composer accepts a paper letter only when your profile has a name and these four address fields. Until then it shows Finish your profile to send paper letters with the button Open settings.
- When the composer sent you to Settings, a line Your profile is complete. appears after saving, with Back to your letter. What you wrote is still there.
- Your address is printed on a paper letter under your name, at the end of the letter. To leave it out for one letter, switch off Print my address under my name in the composer. The sender shows where it stands on the page.
- A scheduled paper letter prints the address your profile has on the posting day.
- The country of your address is preselected as the country of the recipient when you start a paper letter.
- Email letters do not need a postal address. You can save your name without one.
Email addresses
The section Email Addresses lists the addresses you can sign in with. One of them is marked Primary.
Add an address
Press Add Email Address, type the address and press Add. You may be asked to confirm that it is you first.
Verify it
A 6-digit code is sent to the new address, and a field for it opens under the address. Type the code and press Verify. Until then the address shows Pending Verification. If you come back later, press Verify next to the address: a new code is sent and the field opens again. Send a new code in that field does the same.
Make it primary
Press Set Primary next to a verified address. To remove an address, use the cross next to it. The primary address cannot be removed: make another one primary first.
What the primary address is used for:
- It is shown next to your name on the page where a recipient reads your email letter, unless you send anonymously.
- FuturePostman writes to it: receipts, and a message when a letter cannot be delivered or a payment fails.
- The contact form fills it in for you.
Password
In the section Password & Security, type your Current Password, then the new one in New Password and Confirm New Password, and press Update Password.
- The new password needs at least 8 characters.
- If you signed up through another service and have no password yet, the section is called Set a password. It asks for the new password only. Press Set password, and from then on you can also sign in with your email address and that password.
- If you forgot your password and are signed out, use Forgot password? on the sign-in form.
Company details
Use the section Company Information to put your company on your invoices.
Switch it on
Turn on Use company details on invoices. While it is off, invoices are made out to your own name.
Fill in the details
Company Name is required. Add the VAT/Tax ID and the address under Company Address (for invoices) as they should stand on the invoice. Company Website and Phone Number are optional.
Save
Press Save Profile. This section has its own button. You see Saved. Your next invoices carry the company details.
- The details are sent to the payment service when you save and again before a checkout. Every invoice and receipt made after that carries them, also for credit packs. Invoices that already exist do not change.
- The tax number is shown on invoices only when the payment service accepts it for the country of the company address. If it does not, Settings says so under the field and offers Open billing, where you can add the number yourself in the billing portal.
- The website must start with
http://orhttps://. Otherwise you see Enter the website with http:// or https:// in front and nothing is saved. - Payment method and invoices are on the Billing page. See Invoices and payment method.
Delete your account
Delete Account is at the bottom of the Profile tab, in the Danger Section. A dialog lists what happens and asks once for confirmation.
