When the album opens
What you and your guests see when an event album opens: the cover, the photo wall, the slideshow, saving and downloading, the messages, and the emails that say it is open.
3 minutes to read
The album opens by the clock, at the moment you chose, for everyone at once. Nobody has to press anything. A guest page that is open at that moment turns into the album by itself, and the link and the code now lead to the album.
What everyone sees
- When anything was added, the cover comes first: The album is open, with the number of moments nobody has seen until now. Open the album lifts it. For a surprise, the cover carries the name of the person it is for. A browser that lifted the cover before goes straight to the photos.
- Then the wall: every photo and video, in the order they were added, with how many there are and the last day the album is open.
- A photo opens large. Step through with the arrows, and Save keeps the photo or video on your device. It says who added it, when they gave a name.
- Play slideshow plays the photos one after the other. Videos are not part of the slideshow: open them on the wall.
- Download all saves the whole album as one ZIP file, on Party and Big event. On Try it there is no ZIP file: save the photos one by one.
- Add yours still takes photos and videos after the opening, until the album is full or closed. With Only invited people can add, only the people you asked can add: anyone else sees the album without the buttons to add.
The messages
Under Words for later, the album shows the written and spoken messages of the guests, with the name of who left each one. As long as they are sealed, the section only says how many there are and when they open: with Open with the photos at the opening of the album, with Open a year later on the same day one year later. The event page shows that day under Messages open. A message left by phone plays like a recorded one and says Left by phone. The caller says their name at the start of the recording, since the call asks for it. You as the host also see the last digits of the number it came from.
Who is told by email
| Who gets it | When | |
|---|---|---|
| The album is open | You, at the address of your account, and every guest who left an email address on the guest page. | Shortly after the album opens. Messages that open with the photos are part of this email. |
| The messages are open | The same people. | Shortly after messages that open a year later can be read. |
| A surprise for you | The person a surprise is for, when you chose Tell them by email. | At the moment you chose under Tell them on, never before the album opens. |
| Your album closes soon | You, at the address of your account. | 7 days before the album closes, if anything was added to it. Again only if its closing date later moves further out. |
Each of these emails is sent once, and they are in English. A guest who left an address hears when the album opens, and again when messages open later. People you asked by email are told only if they also left their address on the guest page: the invitation alone does not sign them up.
What you can do as the host
- Look at the album on the event page takes you to it.
- Take something out. Signed in, open a photo or video and press Remove, or press Remove next to a message. It is removed for everyone and cannot be brought back.
- Move to a larger size under A larger album. Photos that waited outside a full album join it, and the album stays open for the days of the new size, see How long an album is kept.
- The opening date can no longer change once the album is open.
When more was added than the size holds, the album shows the first ones that were added. When an album is full explains what happens to the rest.
