What a paper letter costs in credits

A paper letter is paid with credits. How many depends on the destination country and the delivery option, and the composer shows the price before you confirm.

4 minutes to read

Paper letters are paid with credits, on every plan. You buy credits in packs, and each letter takes one or more of them at the moment you confirm it.

How many credits a letter costs

  • A letter costs at least one credit.
  • The number depends on two things: the country of the recipient, and the delivery option, standard or tracked.
  • The number of pages does not change the price. A letter can have up to 6 pages.
  • The price follows what the print centre charges for that country, so it can be different next year from today. A letter you have already paid for keeps its price.

There is no fixed price list. To see what a letter to a country costs, pick that country in the composer. You do not need credits to look.

Where you see the price

  1. Next to Standard and Tracked in the Delivery panel of the composer, as soon as the country is chosen. The price is shortened to cr.
  2. At the bottom of that panel: the cost of this letter, and under it how many credits you have.
  3. In the dialog Ready to post?, in the row Cost, together with the credits you have left afterwards.

Afterwards the page of the letter shows the number under Credits Used. Changing a scheduled letter costs nothing extra.

When you do not have enough credits

The composer shows in red how many credits you have and how many more you need, and its main button changes to Buy credits. The button opens the dialog Buy letter credits. After the payment you return to the composer, and your draft is still there.

  • 10 credits$43$4.30 per creditSave 14%
  • 25 credits$100$4 per creditSave 20%

How the checkout works, and what to do when a payment does not arrive, is in buying credits.

When the price cannot be fetched

The composer gets the price from the print centre each time you pick a country. When that does not work, you see this:

  • The Delivery options show no price, and the stamp shows a question mark.
  • The line at the bottom of the panel says The price could not be fetched right now.
  • If you press the review button anyway, the composer asks once more. Without an answer it says The price of this letter could not be fetched. Try again in a moment.

The line Choose the country to see the price is not an error. It only means that no country is chosen yet.

FuturePostman does not guess a price. Without a confirmed price no letter is created and no credits are taken. Your draft stays in the composer, so wait a few minutes and try again. If it keeps happening for the same country, contact support.

Credits included in a plan

Paper letter credits included each monthNot includedNot included10
  • Included credits are added to your balance when a subscription payment for a full month goes through: the first payment and every renewal.
  • A change of plan in the middle of a month adds none.
  • In the ledger they are listed as Bonus.
  • Once added they are ordinary credits. Unused ones stay on your account.

Your balance and the ledger

Open Manage Letters and choose the tab Credits. It shows Your balance and the Credit ledger, a list of every credit that came in or went out.

Purchase
A credit pack you bought.
Credits used
A letter you confirmed. The line under it names the recipient while the letter exists. Once the letter is deleted or removed from your list, it says Paper letter or Tracked paper letter.
Refund
Credits returned for a letter you deleted before it was printed.
Bonus
Credits included in your plan, or credits added to your account by FuturePostman.

The short line under each entry is in the language you use the app in.

Credits do not expire. They stay on your account until you use them.

Getting credits back

  • Delete a letter before it is printed and all the credits it cost return to your balance.
  • A letter that has been posted is not refunded, also when it later comes back. Remove from list takes a finished letter off your list and returns nothing.
  • Sending a failed letter again with Send now does not cost a second time.
  • A refund in the app is always in credits, not in money.

The exact rules are in when credits come back.
