Buy credits for paper letters

Where to buy credit packs, what they cost, how the payment works and where every credit is recorded.

4 minutes to read

Paper letters are paid with credits. You buy credits in packs, on any plan, and use them whenever you like. This article is about buying them. How many credits a letter costs is explained in What a paper letter costs in credits.

Buy a pack

  1. Open the purchase dialog

On the Credits tab of Manage Letters press Buy credits. The same button is in the composer while you write a paper letter. Buy credits in the Plan and usage card on the dashboard, and Purchase Credits on the Subscription page when your balance is empty, take you to the Credits tab.

  2. Choose a pack

The dialog Buy letter credits shows each pack with its price, the price per credit and what you save against buying credits one at a time.

  3. Pay

Press Buy credits. You are taken to the payment page of Stripe, which handles our payments. It is a single payment, not a subscription.

  4. Come back

After the payment you return to the page you started from, and the message Purchase Successful! says how many credits were added to your account.

Packs and prices

  • 1 credit$5$5 per credit
  • 5 credits$23$4.60 per creditSave 8%
  • 10 credits$43$4.30 per creditSave 14%
  • 25 credits$100$4 per creditSave 20%
  • The list above shows the standard packs. The price you pay is the one the purchase dialog shows when you buy: the payment page charges exactly that amount, in US dollars
  • Larger packs cost less per credit
  • Postmaster has its own pack prices. The dialog shows them while that plan is running. Credits you already have are not affected when your plan changes
  • Credits that a plan includes are added by themselves with every paid month and are not a purchase. See credits included in a plan

The invoice of a purchase

  • Every credit purchase has an invoice. You find it under Invoice History on the Billing page, next to the invoices of a plan, and can download it as a PDF
  • The Billing page and its entry in the sidebar appear with your first purchase, also on the Free plan
  • If Use company details on invoices is switched on in Settings, the invoice carries your company. See invoices and payment method

Credits do not expire

  • Credits stay on your account until you use them. There is no monthly reset
  • They stay when your plan changes or ends, and they work on the Free plan
  • Your balance is shown under Your balance on the Credits tab, on the dashboard, and under Paper letter credits on the Subscription page
  • Credits are taken from your balance when you confirm a paper letter, not on the day it is posted
  • The app cannot turn credits back into money, and it cannot move them to another account

The credit ledger

On the Credits tab, the Credit ledger lists every credit that came in or went out, newest first, with the date and a short description. The round button at the top of the ledger loads it again.

EntryCreditsWhat it is
PurchaseAddedA pack you bought.
Credits usedTakenA paper letter you sent or scheduled. The description names the recipient while the letter exists, and says Paper letter or Tracked paper letter after the letter is gone.
RefundAddedCredits that came back for a letter you deleted before it was printed.
BonusAddedCredits included in your plan, added with a paid month. Credits that our support adds by hand are listed the same way.

What a credit refund is

A refund in FuturePostman gives credits back, not money. When you delete a paper letter before it is printed, the credits it cost return to your balance in full and the ledger shows a Refund entry. A letter that has been posted cannot be refunded. The details are in Change or delete a paper letter and get credits back.

Getting money back for a pack you bought is a different matter. The app has no button for it. Contact us and choose Billing as the reason.
