What recipients of your letters get

How a released letter reaches each person by email or text message, what they see when they open it, and the reminders when they have not.

2 minutes to read

Your recipients hear nothing from us while your plan runs. Only when your letters are released does each person get their own message, once.

The message

Each person gets the letter the way you chose for them: an email, a text message or both. The message says that you wrote a letter for them and asked us to deliver it, and has a private link that opens only their letter, with an access code.

The letter

The button in the email brings them to the sealed envelope, and they press it to read the letter. The button works once: after that, from a text message, or when the button does not work, they type the email address or phone number it was sent to and the access code from the message. The page then shows your title, your words and the date it was delivered. Under With this letter they can Download every photo, video and file you added. The email and the letter page both say that the letter is not a will and has no legal force.

If they have not opened it

A letter that has not been opened is brought up again by email after 3 days, 10 days, and 30 days, counted from its delivery. Someone reached only by text message gets the first reminder by text. When they open it, the reminders stop.

How long it stays

A delivered letter can be opened for 30 days after it is first opened, or for one year after delivery if it is never opened. The letter page says until when, and asks them to save anything they want to keep. After that the letter and its files are deleted for good.

Privacy

Letters and files are stored encrypted. Each link opens one letter for one person, and only together with the address or number it was sent to and its access code. After ten wrong tries the letter locks for a day. The people a letter goes to never see each other's links.
