Let AI write a first draft of your letter

Describe your letter in a sentence or two and Write with AI drafts a subject and a text for you to edit. Where it is, which plans have it and what its limits are.

3 minutes to read

Write with AI turns a short description into a first draft: a subject and a letter text that you then edit like anything you typed yourself. It needs a plan that includes it. Plans that include it: Postmaster.

Draft a letter

  1. Open the helper

In the composer, press Write with AI in the toolbar under the letter text.

  2. Describe the letter

Say in a sentence or two who the letter is for, what the occasion is and what it should mention. The field shows an example.

  3. Start

Press Write it, or the Enter key. If the letter already has text, the app asks Replace what you have written? first. Press Replace it to go on, or Keep my text to stop.

  4. Wait for the draft

The letter shows Writing... while the draft is made. Your own text stays untouched until the draft has arrived.

  5. Read and edit

The draft fills in Subject and the letter text. Read every sentence, correct it and make it yours before you send.

On a plan without the AI writer the button shows a lock. Pressing it opens a notice that writing with AI is not included in your plan, with a See plans button.

What happens to your description

  • Your description is sent to an external AI provider, together with a fixed instruction to write a letter with a short subject
  • Nothing else is sent: not the recipients, not the text already in the letter, not your files and not your name
  • The description is not saved with the letter. The field is emptied when the draft arrives
  • How FuturePostman and the AI provider handle this data is described in the Privacy Policy

What you get

  • A subject of a few words and a text in plain paragraphs, without formatting
  • The draft replaces both the subject and the text. Recipients, delivery time, files and options stay as they are
  • The text is at most 1,200 characters long. A longer result is cut off there and ends with three dots
  • No language is set for the helper. Write the description in the language the letter should be in, or name the language in it
  • The draft can contain an emoji where it fits the occasion
  • A draft does not use up one of your monthly letters. A letter is counted only when you send or schedule it

Limits

You can get up to 50 drafts per hour. Only a draft that arrived is counted. A request that failed, or one your plan refused, costs nothing. Past the limit the app answers You have asked the AI for many drafts in a short time. Try again in an hour.

What can go wrong

Writing with AI is not included in your plan
Your plan has no AI writer, or a paid plan has run out. See plans shows which plan includes it.
You have asked the AI for many drafts in a short time. Try again in an hour.
You reached the hourly limit. Wait and try again.
AI generation failed
No draft could be made this time, for example because the AI provider did not answer. Your subject and text are unchanged, your description is still in the field, and the try is not counted. Try again a little later.

Write a good description

  • Say who the letter is for and how you are related
  • Name the occasion and the mood: warm, funny, solemn
  • Add the facts it should contain: names, dates, a memory
  • Read the result as if someone else wrote it. The helper only knows what your description says, and it can add details that are not true

The paper letter composer has the same button on the same plans. There it writes the letter text only. Its drafts are counted the same way, only drafts you got, and it has its own 50 drafts per hour.
