The calendar
Every letter on the day it leaves, and the birthdays and anniversaries of your contacts, month by month. Tap a day to see what is on it or to write a letter for it.
3 minutes to read
Open Calendar in the menu. It shows every letter you have on the day it leaves, and the days of your contacts, such as birthdays and anniversaries. From any day ahead you can start a letter for it.
The month
The calendar opens on the month you are in, with today marked. Each day lists what is on it. When a day has more than fits, it shows how many more there are.
| Colour | What it is |
|---|---|
| Red | An email letter, on the day it is delivered |
| Blue | A paper letter, on the day it is printed and posted |
| Rose | A day of one of your contacts, such as a birthday or an anniversary |
What the colours mean under the month says the same. A letter that repeats every year shows a small repeat mark next to its name.
- The arrows beside the month go to the previous and the next month
- Today brings you back to the present month and selects today
- Under View, Month shows the grid and List shows the days of the month that have something on them, one under the other. On a phone the list is often easier to read
With the keyboard
Once a day has focus, the arrow keys move through the grid: left and right by a day, up and down by a week. The day you move to is the chosen one, and the calendar turns to the next or previous month by itself when you cross its edge.
The chosen day
Tap a day and the panel The chosen day shows everything on it. On a wide screen the panel sits next to the month, on a phone below it.
- A letter
- Shows its subject, or the recipient when it has none, its status and, for an email letter, the time. Tap it to open the letter.
- A contact's day
- Shows whose day it is, for example "Emma turns 41" when the year of birth is known. Below it the panel says A letter is on its way for this day or No letter is on its way yet. In the second case, Write opens the composer with the day set and the contact's address in To.
A day in the past that had nothing on it says Nothing happened on this day. A day ahead with nothing on it says Nothing is planned for this day yet.
Write a letter for a day
Choose the day
Tap a day that has not passed yet.
Start the letter
Press Write a letter for this day in the panel. The composer opens with that day as the delivery date. From a contact's day, use Write next to it instead, and the address is filled in too.
Write and send
Add the rest and send it as usual. To send it on this day every year, switch on Repeat every year, see A letter every year.
Where the days of your contacts come from
The rose days are the Days to remember of your contacts. Add a birthday or an anniversary to a contact and it shows on that day every year. The panel of a day ahead also has Add a birthday to a contact, which opens your contacts. How it works is in Days to remember on a contact.
The home screen shows the same days in Birthdays and anniversaries: the days of the next two months, each with Write, or On its way when a letter is already waiting for it.
- A letter every yearSend the same letter on the same day every year, for a birthday, an anniversary or a holiday. Each year is a letter of its own, paid at once.
- Add recipients and manage your contactsSend one email letter to several people, and keep the addresses you write to in your contacts, so they are a few keystrokes away in the composer.
- In the appContactsAdd a birthday or an anniversary to a contact.
