A letter for an anniversary
Write it now, read it together then. A letter that arrives on your next anniversary, or your twenty-fifth, says what you did not get round to saying at dinner.
An example
To us, twenty-five years on,
Let us read this one out loud at dinner. I am writing it the night after our first anniversary, in the flat with the broken radiator, and I want to tell the two of us what this year was.
It was the year we learned to argue and make up before bed. It was the year you held my hand in the hospital corridor and did not say anything, which was exactly right. It was the year we bought the ugly lamp.
If the lamp is still there, I win the bet. If it is not, I am sorry, and I hope the one that replaced it is at least as ugly.

Can we both write one?
Yes. Each of you writes your own, to the other, for the same day. Neither sees the other’s until then.
What if the date changes?
A paid letter can be moved to another day until it is delivered.
